Hammer used to climb in the tree a lot. He’s a bit old and fat and lazy for that these days. I’m still using the modified tree stand though. It’s a simple, roughly 3'x3' X that I screwed the regular stand to. It’s been an effective means of keeping the tree pointy end up. I thought all you cat owners would appreciate it.

I got a three month old pup with a habit of of biting and pulling..... everything. That might get deployed this year until she learns better

We’re staying home this year for the first time in a long time so Mrs. MINIGTI wants a real tree. Fine with me but must withstand 2 cats and a very curious  2.5 year old boy.

My parents would throw a set of tires ice chains around the bottom under the skirt to weigh it down as needed due to children, dogs and cats.

This modification should do it.

We tie our tree to the ceiling with florist wire. You can’t see it, but it works perfectly, tied to three points. Granted, we have wood ceilings, and a tree that brushes up against it at 9' - but this is WAY sized down from when the living room had an 18' ceiling. We tried to have trees that reached the top, and came close. You could at least see the top out the windows of the second floor. I’ll have to dig up a pic sometime...

That definitely works. Our house has a very expensive plaster ceiling that one of the previous owners installed, so I don't dare mess with it.
